The so called return policy is a joke not only do they not refund any discount from a "trade in" but they also deduct a minimum of 20% off your refund, which means the price you originally splashed out is reduced considerably.

Even although the above is in the t&c.s I still think that the so called refund policy sucks.

It should be covered by the "distance selling or cooling off period.

So watch out folks the so called return policy in my opinion is a rip off

Yep. I now make a point of reading the small print, before signing on the dotted line. Been caught out like this before with Argos.

I wont be buying any more Samsung products in the future if they think it's ok to " rip off" long standing customers.
Maybe it's time to think of a decent manufacturer with morals, if there are any!

To be fair. I'm 100% to blame. T&C's there for all to see. Totally my fault for not being bothered to read them.

That's what companies wuth very little morals hope all their customers do though, the more money then can get out of people not reading their t&c's the better it is for them.

Samsung may only take 20% off any refund if the box the device is in has been opened.

If you haven't broken the seal, then full refund is due of what you actually paid.

The issue of the value of the trade in is thorny. My own view is that they should return your device or pay in full but the law doesn't appear to support that.

For myself, all of these changes make me far less likely to buy my next device from Samsung.

How's it Samsung's fault if you didn't read the T&C's
They let you know about it all before purchasing.
The trade in you would not get money back from any company for that.
But definitely read everything and understand it before you part with any money.
There are companies that will charge and take quite a lot of money off if you open the packaging a device comes in. As its effectively a second hand device
I can never stress enough to understand the terms and conditions of anything someone buys

Thats the thing, they dont let you know it before purchasing. If it said upfront before you purchased the item that returning an item within the 14 days would result in a 20% reduction, then I would agree with you,but it is in the t&c's. And as most companies rely on the fact that most ppl don't actually read.
If you return an amazon product even after opening it,you get a FULL refund.
