Hello Samsung,

I am using the Galaxy Watch 7 and I can see the new Antioxidant Index and Vascular Load features in the Samsung Health app. Unfortunately, they are not available on my Watch 7, as it says a Watch 8 or newer is required.

Screenshots are here:

This is confusing and disappointing because the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch 8 have the exact same hardware - same Exynos W1000 processor and identical BioActive sensors. Technically, there should be no limitation to enable these features on the Watch 7 as well.

I recently bought the Watch 7 and feel excluded from new health features, even though the device is still brand-new and powerful enough. It would be much appreciated if Samsung could unlock these features for Watch 7 users too.

Thank you!

Adrian

Hi and welcome, i do not believe Watch7 will get these features as it lacks the Bio sensor.

Technically, the BioActive sensor on both the Galaxy Watch 7 and 8 is identical. Both measure heart rate, ECG, and body composition using the same 3-in-I hardware. The processor is also the same Exynos W1000, so there is enough computing power to support additional features.

Functions like the Antioxidant Index and Vascular Stress on the Galaxy Watch 8 are software-enabled. Hardware-wise, the Galaxy Watch 7 is fully capable of supporting these features as well. The fact that they are not available on the Watch 7 is likely due to software or marketing decisions, not hardware limitations.

My bad thought I previously checked my Ultra that was in the same boat.

Personally we need more than you get software for x years, its needs to be hardware as well, mobiles less so, but wearables should otherwise its not a sustainable approach.

I assume you might get it late, things like Now Brief were chipset based and are now available on 2024 flagship.

I think your issue will be that Samsung is way behind on A16, UI8, let alone UI8.5 or whatever its called.

Hi! Just wanted to add that the Galaxy Watch 7 is one of Samsung's newest smartwatches, similar to the Galaxy Sz4 Ultra in phones. It's recent enough that features like the Antioxidant Index and Vascular Stress could technically be added.

I understand Samsung might limit them to newer models for software or marketing reasons, but it's definitely not an outdated device.

Some people say it doesn't support a biosensor, but it came with a revamped sensor. Here's the image. It's in Turkish, but you can find it in your language on Samsung's page:

"High-level sensitivity with the improved BioActive Sensor
Be one step ahead in your health journey with our most advanced health sensor in the Galaxy Watch. The new BioActive Sensor with 13 LEDs tracks your heart rate, sleep patterns, and more with high precision.
"

So, since W8 sales are significantly low, Samsung is now forced to punish W7 users. The ONE UI8 update has arrived, but aside from a fancy interface, there are no new features. It's a 2GB empty update.

While technically W8 and W7 are identical, Samsung is blocking features in the software.
