Not sure which watch to choose

I tried to search for a similar topic but couldn't see anything, so apologies if this is a repeat (I would be sure someone has asked this already)

I ordered the Galaxy Watch Ultra but then got confused about the way it works so need help.

I want a watch to connect to my phone and be able to take calls, messages, contactless payments but able to do so without having my phone on me, like an extension from my current phone.

The Ultra was coming with it's own sim plan and a new number giving 1GB data. So not sure if this connects it to the phone so I could send and receive texts and calls.

I have tried to compare to the watch 7 LTE as I think it would do the same and the specs don't seem to vary much - just price

I am with O2 and it doesn't look like I can share any of my 150GB data but other networks allow a payment to 'share date between phone plan and watch'

Any advice on what watch would tick what I need?

Sorry for the long winded post

I have the Samsung 5 watch pro which can make calls texts etc, tbh it's very tetchy if you forget phone it seems to disconnect if u forget phone, it's a great watch battery lasts about 2 days if u use it right. Having phone with you at all times is the best way IMO as if battery is dead on phone your watch won't work!

The watch 7 LTE and the watch ultra are the same device inside, the ultra just has a brighter screen, bigger battery and different outside. For a watch to make calls aand texts without your phone, you need the phone and watch to have the same phone number/cell plan. Not all providers offer this but some do for a little extra a month. If you get a sim for the watch that has a different number, notifications and data will work fine, but you'd only get calls and texts aimed at that watch specific phone number

Hi there 👋

I Have watch 7 44mm got esim and paired plan comes with different number but when they paired to you plan and watch your original number from your phone will be paired with watch and watch will receive texts, calls notifications etc that you get on your phone, different number is for billing and data purposes. I was thinking about watch ultra tried it for week decided to stay with watch 7, because it not bulky, does almost everything same, looks better on wrist, really beautiful screen. So i stick with watch 7 also ypu can turn off watches mobile data and as long as watch with you connected through Bluetooth it will drain your phones mobile data.
