Energy score is useless

My Galaxy watch 5 Pro recently recieved the One UI 6 wear OS update and with it came a new feature within Samsung Health - Energy Score.

Although this feature sounds like a great idea, it is in fact completely useless.

Within its settings you have to input your activity level and here lies the problem. It wrongly assumes you're active for the same amount of time EVERY DAY. For example I run 3 times a week so I inputted that I'm active. On my running days I recieve a good energy score but on my rest days my energy score drops and it tells me it needs attention as I haven't been active enough.

If I set it to sedentary or somewhat active I have the opposite problem - on my rest days my score is good, and on the days I run my score drops and I'm told I need to rest.

Basically there's no way to consistently get a good score unless you exercise 7 days a week with zero rest days or never exercise at all.

It's a tool to keep you motivated and consistent.

I'm not sure what you were expecting it to do.

As you have found out. Just choose your activity level and try your best to be consistent or compete with yourself.

As long as you are feeling good about yourself and the progress you are making, the rest is just numbers.

I just compare how I feel and check my scores and see if it makes a difference or not.

I actually like the sleep statistics as I am not that of an active person.

The energy score, as you have said, is based on your lifestyle input (sedentary to very active) and so will calculate on that basis.

Same comment here, I just upgraded to a Watch7 and noticed the same issue, I do resistance training every other day and on my off days I get the "Attention Needed" notification.  I'm hoping over time this averages out once their algorithm gets enough data, or maybe Samsung will address this in a future update.  My guess is this was designed more to get sedentary people be more active and not necessarily address the needs of people who are already active.

I'm here from a search trying to figure out how to turn it off.

I have stage 4 cancer and I live alone. I wear the watch for safety, so I can use it to call for help in an emergency. I have no desire to be shamed for not being active enough!

You've just articulated my experience and feelings about the energy score. I believe it's a work in progress. Future updates should hopefully improve its functionality.

I have a similar issue. It keeps saying I need attention to activity and have zero minutes of moderate to vigorous activity when I've done a 60 minute run that was logged in Samsung Health. Makes no sense.

On my side, I was expecting something similar to the garmin body battery.

My wife is having a garmin watch and the body battery reflect her energy over the day, based on sleep, stress over the day, heart rate, activities, and who knows..

The samsung energy score is not something which reflects the energy over the day, and I agree with the previous comments... it is useless as it is.

I have the same issue. I'm working out 4 times a week and go for walks on 2 of my rest days, but usually hit between 5-10k steps a day. I have a sedentary job too. I keep getting needs attention, even when I DO go to the gym. "You didn't work hard enough" is the so called 'motivation' I'm getting from this feature and it sucks! People who have a history of disordered thoughts when it comes to eating or working out do NOT want to hear that on their rest days. Maybe it'll average out soon but I think rest days will always be a problem. Maybe they need a feature for us to input a rest day and it congratulates us and doesn't calculate activity that day or something!

The issue for me is i am sedentary due to long covid and mecfs. If this factors could considered it would be very helpful for people like myself to pace everyday

Does anyone know if you can turn it off? I really like the notifications and information for all aspects of Samsung Health except this feature which i find really demoralising. It doesn't allow for rest days which makes it useless in my case. Would love to turn it off altogether - does anyone know if this is possible?
