Does the GW3 allow for messaging apps other than the default sammy messaging?

I have the ear S2 watch, and its always bothered me that I had to use the Sammy Messaging app if I wanted the watch to receive messages. Does the GW3 allow for use of third party apps?

I currently use Verizon Messages and I haven't had any problems!
