White spots and light bleed on UE55JS9000

About 1 month ago I started to experience white spots on the left and right edges of my TV. These have progressively got worse over time to the point where they make the TV unwatchable. This problem seems to be quite common with these models:

Does anyone have a fix outside of getting a screen repaired (which doesn't seem to be possible now)? I'm out of warranty and spent £1800 on this TV only 2 years 5 months ago...

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks St3lios!

In your case do you know how it was cut?

Room temp sharp blade? Warmed up and sharp blade? Laser cut? Polished after the cut?

I want to repair mine please.  I'm hoping you're still able to supply the instructions and all the parts required.  Seems a shame that Samsung didn't supply a kit to address this issue if its as simple as a sheet of plastic and new backlights but hey they have new models they want to sell us right?

Hi ScolgaMVP,

in the end I reassembled mine with original parts, obviously still having the issues.

It is not a problem to do the activity, I would be able to do a sort of tutorial myself, what is impossible is to get a replacement part.

I bought a failed tv which was supposed to contain a replacement part, but this tv is edge lit top and bottom, therefore not compatible.

I am stack without a replacement part.

Thank you for getting back to me.  I found this on YouTube See this (skip to 1:03) is this the same problem with the JS9000?

Yes, that's the issue with mine and basically all JS9000 after a while. Just pay attention the video show a common tv with led at top and bottom, JS9000 needs a different part that I wasn't able to find. I attach a picture of mine.

So we need to find a TV that will have the parts to swap over.  Mine is a 48 so I presume I need a 55 curved.  I wonder if an LCD refurbishing company could help?  THIS  video shows a top and bottom LED lit TV I presume the curved is side LED lit?

Carefoul to gate a curved panel, not straight, the straight 55 panel is bigger and you have to cut it

You can use any pannel from a 55 cuverd, if you can find, search any tv model that it has the led strips to the side of the panel, i give you a tip, you can search on ebay 55 led strips, see if the length is the hight of the panel and that's your tv model, ypu can search for a broken one to get the diffuser.

Good luck

Careful St3lios,

You gave a potentially misleading tip, as it is exactly as I did ending up with a wrong tv lib top and bottom.

This is because the tv I got doing this way is lit at the bottom by 2 led strips, which are called left and right and which lenght is exactly the same as the height of the tv. Apparently the bottom is 2 times the side in lenght.

What would be needed to find a spare is the indication of a model which is known to have led on the sides. It seems there are very few, I would be happy if anyone can point me in the right direction
