Using a Bluetooth keyboard with a QE43Q67DAU TV

Just bought a Bluetooth keyboard/trackpad combo to use with our Smart TV. 
I’ll all works fine with the inbuilt web browser and YouTube, but it’s not able to type into search boxes on apps like iPlayer, ITVx etc. 

Is this a feature or do I need a different brand of keyboard?
