Have you at any point in the past given your TV access to your work laptop? I'm thinking screen sharing, WiFi sharing etc? If so your TV would save that access.
Your work laptop would surely have a password or similar for you to log in so your TV cannot have access without this.
As for a breach of GDPR, you may wish to check the law......(I'll give you a clue, it isn't).
