TV volume indicator stuck on screen

For some unknown reason, the Volume indicator is showing on screen permanently and I can’t find a way to remove it. I’ve changed no settings whatsoever, and this happened out of the blue. 

My set up is as follows:

• Apple TV 4K box
• HomePod stereo pair set as default audio output

TV model is QE58Q60TAUXXU. 

Can anybody help figure this one out please? I also noticed last night that the little red IR sensor was flashing repeatedly however this doesn’t seem to be the case today and the issue persists. I’ve already turned off the TV at the plug and powered back up but it hasn’t solved anything.

I had the same thing a few years ago with my Sony TV. Turned out to be the AppleTV remote was continuously sending codes.
Remove the Apple remote from the TV room to see if that is indeed what bothers you.
I don't remember how I got the remote to stop sending codes, but it should not be too hard to find on the internet.
