Tv keeps reverting to terrestrial input source from freesat source

I recently purchased a  Samsung UE50 TU8507UXXU tv, which has both satellite and terrestrial receivers, as I have a better picture and greater channel choice I chose the satellite input. However if anyone in the family opens the apps and selects “Samsung Tv Plus” and chooses a channel to watch, when finished and returning back to “Tv mode” the input has been changed from satellite to terrestrial mode, I then have to go through the setting sequence again each time to change it back to satellite input (freesat).
has anyone else experienced this and is there a way to stop it happening?

I like Terry's work around but at the end of the day it is a pain and should not happen. I don't even have terrestrial aerial connected so TV should not default to that.

If you are a senior citizen, the samsung setup process is PAINFUL to say the very least. Especially when all the want is the use of their terrestial Aerial.

In addition, even for use less senior citizens, the method to flip between Freesat & Freeview is totally non-intuitive. They are 2 seperate sources and should be setup as such.  They could have seperate APPs which would be a reasonable halfway.

The 3rd issue is why oh why does it flip back to Freeview, from Freesat everytime you flip APPs....Aaaaaaargh

Perhaps the worst setup system I have ever come acrosss.  Why have something done in 3 clicks of a menu when you can do it in 20....?

If I had my way I would return the TV as not fit for the use that it was purchased...

Just iterating asdr14's comments below... I keep coming back to this advice as this happens so often! Thanks for the guide... !

One question: what's the equivalent of the little button with coloured spots on the main remote? I can only seem to do it from the mini remote...

Know the feeling. Hubby (87) wanted a bigger screen so bought a 55 in tv. Have had trouble  getting regular tv ever since. Three days is the longest time before things go blank again. Costs £20 every time I get the guy out to fix it . Every bloomin week.

All you need to do is press and hold the button with the 123 and dots.  This will bring up the remote control shortcut screen and you can switch between satellite and terrestrial.

I figured this out… ie how to make the change but using the big remote.

When you’re on the guide, press and hold guide on the main remote and this brings up a new menu. Use the left arrow to go over, then the up arrow to go up… from there you can change the aerial type.

great if (like us) you’ve lost the tiny remote.

I suffer from this issue too. Complete pain. Watch any "Samsung TV Plus" and the TV reverts to Terrestrial. It's straightforward enough to switch back (when you know how), but a clear bug that Samsung need to fix rather than ignore!
