I have had from new a Samsung QE65QN95A (2021) set and have only ever used on a terrestrial aerial. I recently tried to set up the Freesat via my sky dish, it scans ok but will not play channels even though it says it’s found them. I know the dish is ok as it worked on sky, anyone got any suggestions as Samsung tech were useless and told me to put it in for repair

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK and EU Community Forum

Have you ensured your cable connections are correct?

From memory you need the aerial cable into the Sky box and the sky box connected to the television.

Bit difficult to diagnose not seeing it in front of me.
I am not employed by Samsung nor do I receive any remuneration as a Samsung Members Star.

My device is an S25 Ultra.

Hi

sorry I didn’t explain correctly, I no longer have a sky box, I’m connecting the satellite cables direct to the TV box, and the aerial is as its always been plugs into the TV box. I want to set up the inbuilt Freesat box in the Samsung

Mmmmm ok I might need to take this one away and think it through as I see what your trying to do but for some reason Freesat isn't recognising your connection.

Are you signed in to Freesat?

So I've done an AI search and this is what comes back

To access Freesat on a Samsung TV, you'll need to ensure your TV has a built-in satellite receiver or a Freesat-compatible box connected. Then, you'll need to tune the TV to Freesat through the TV's settings, typically by selecting "Satellite" as the input source and performing an auto-tuning scan.

Steps to Get Freesat on a Samsung TV:

1. Connect the Satellite Dish/Box:

If your TV has a built-in satellite receiver, connect the satellite dish to the corresponding input port on the back of the TV.

If you have a separate Freesat box, connect it to the TV using an HDMI cable.

2. Set the TV to Satellite Input:

Access the TV's menu and navigate to the "Broadcasting" or "Input" settings.

Select "Satellite" as the input source.

3. Perform Auto-Tuning:

Go to the "Auto Tuning" or "Channel Scan" options within the TV's settings.

Select "Satellite" as the tuning method and "Digital & Analogue" as the channel type.

Start the scan, and the TV will search for and save the available Freesat channels.

4. Troubleshooting:

Check LNB Alignment: Ensure the LNB (Low Noise Block) is correctly aligned with the satellite dish.

Check Connections: Verify that all cables are securely connected.

Select the Correct Satellite: In the TV's settings, confirm that you've selected the correct satellite for Freesat reception (usually Astra 2 at 28.2 degrees East).

Check Signal Strength: Use the TV's signal strength and quality meters to assess the signal.

Rescan: If you're having trouble, try rescanning for channels.

Additional Notes:

Some Samsung TVs, especially newer models, may have specific issues with receiving ITV and other Freesat channels due to frequency changes.

If you're having trouble, consult your TV's user manual or contact Samsung support for assistance.

Hi thanks you your replies, I’ve tried all the above previously but no joy, someone said if on initial setup you choose terrestrial over satellite you can’t change, but that surely cannot be right. I tried Samsung Tech who even dialled into my set but he didn’t have a clue

It’s got nothing to do with Sky as I’m not using the sky box

Try moving the dish, mate. I also have the built-in freesat on my QE65Q95T and had a similar experience. Got the dish moved to another side of the wall, and every channel now is pinsharp, perfect. Might be worth a try.
