Does anyone know if a QE85QN900AT 85" t/v can be repaired without needing to take the screen away? I have a faulty t/v and Martin Daws is refusing to repair it. They sent an engineer who took a load of readings from the set and left. Martin Daws later called back to say the t/v was working within accepted parameters and they couldn't do any more to help. The engineer didn't even look at the screen images, just took the readings and went. The problem is the upscaling has stopped working and it's making most images look poor and grainy. SD is terrible, HD is bad, and even UHD looks poor most of the time. This happens on all inputs, terrestrial,Virgins t/v box or Samsungs wi-fi. Nothing now looks like it should. For the past 18 months all resolutions have been fantastic. The t/v has a 5 yr warranty.
They haven't yet given me a formal reason why they won't return and just look at the screen because they won't reply to my emails. If I ring I just get told the same thing, they can't help. I think it might be because I live in a 3rd floor flat that has 4 flights of stairs to get to my flat. The engineer asked me how we had got it up the stairs when he first showed up. It was a bit difficult because of the huge box it came in and needed 2 people at the bottom and one at the top to get it up the stairs, but out of the box the t/v is much easier to handle. When he left he said he hoped it was a software issue as he didn't want to handle such a big screen ( 85" ).
So my question is can the black box at the back of the screen be separated from the screen itself for servicing purposes? They arrive in separate boxes so I assumed they could be repaired separately. In which case they could just take the black box away and service it, leaving the big screen where it is. If that makes sense.

I'd love to do that but unfortunately I bought it directly from Samsung. At the time no one else was selling the " big one " so I had to go direct. I turned 70 last year and I decided to treat myself to a nice big telly from a "good" manufacturer. I'm disabled and can't travel abroad so this telly brought the world to me for the past18 months in glorious UHD with HDR and it was fantastic. It took most of my savings to buy it but I thought it was worth it. Maybe I was wrong.

So I just give up on the nearly £5,000 of my hard-earned savings just to buy another telly? Thank you for the suggestion but if this thing isn't repaired or replaced, I intend to go to the small claims court and fight it out there. Samsung truly don't have a leg to stand on here as I can easily prove the t/v isn't upscaling anymore and needs to be repaired. Thanks anyway.

Martin Dawes are the people who repair stuff for Samsung, they don't sell goods. So for now they are the ones who I must deal with. If that fails then I go to Samsung to sort it out.

I might have to but for now I'll let Martin Dawes try to fix it.
