Sometimes no signal at switching on on QLED

Since a few weeks I am the owner of a QE55Q9F 2018.

My setup is using the CI+ module with direct coax cable connection to the tv from my provider.

The CI+ module has been used before on my Samsung UE46D8000 for 7 years with no problem.

Now for the second time I got the message "no signal" at switching on the TV. Like no cable is connected or the wrong source input.

This happens when the TV has been on for a period, then switched of by the remote and put back on (>30 minutes on stand-by).

Switching the TV off and after a few seconds on again (once even twice) seems to solve the problem.

I also see in this case a short message my account has logged on (normally not the case when switching the tv on).
Has it done a reset?

What is wrong here?

The privoder connection is ok: other TV sets at home do work perfect on these moments.

Since I can't repeat the behaviour it would be silly to call the repair service.

Can this be an issue in the startup of the TV (timing between different components).

Anyone seen the same behaviour.

I don't know where that setting is (if it exists at all on my TV) but I've found if you get the "No signal" message, switch it off with remote control, wait 20 seconds and switch back on with remote control. The TV starts from scratch and all channels are present again. It's easier than pulling power completely and re-powering.
Also, I've noticed that I get this on my tv if I've been using an app and switch the TV off without exiting the app first. If I exit app before switching off, i rarely get the "No signal" message.
Hope this info is of some help.

I refused the instant on preset and they gave me the refund immediatelly

I think that sounds like a similar, but not identical problem; inasmuch as all you were missing was signal to a single channel. Still a massive irritation and shouldn’t happen. It will be interesting to see if the problem recurs.

Very interesting. I’m relying on the internal Freesat decoder alone - presume this is in the One Connect Box, though, so can’t see an overheating CI card being the cause of my problem which, by the way, hasn’t recurred for quite some time now. I wonder whether the new box will be compatible with the Q9F screen. I’d prefer not to change the screen if I can avoid it but if a new One Connect box could be supplied (that is backward compatible) then that sounds appealing. I can understand why companies don’t just contact all affected customers and do a product recall. But I wish they would - it would be so much more honest.

Strange that several of us can’t find the instant on preset. Not that I’d want to use it. Are we all taking about the same models? Clarity and accuracy on that score might be important for those joining the queue of hundreds seeking refunds ...

guys, I am all the time talking about QE65Q9FN with one connect box. You can not find the "instant on" preset as this is hidden in the service menu, you have to call the technician to do it for you, but than you can expect 10-20sec delay when switching on the TV, but no signal issues after that. I am leaving this chat, because it is very tiring to keep explaining to all of you, that one connect box 2018-2019 has a overheating issue and if they do not rework the inside, you can do whatever, but the issue will remain, so in case you have the issue and have no possibility to have a connection e.g. via optical cabel and you need some kind of CI card, than get rid of those TV models and claim the money back, there is NO option to fix those TVs, wait for 2020 models or get a model without one connect box.

For those who are seeking how to disable Instant ON feature.  But first quick summary since I believe that several different problems were under discussion here, I have seen CI card problems etc. Mine TV version is QE65Q9FNA (EU version of QE65Q9FN). I was experiencing "No Signal" problem with native terestial DVB-T tuner. From time to time the TV's tuner just went offline and the only way to fix it was by power cycle. Also some muxes pixelate a lot while having 100% signal and quality and different TV on the same antena is just perfect. Oficial fix by Samsung in our country is to disable Instant ON feature. But now I hate to wait for tv to start up, so I'm switching it ON agan. I did some screenshoots so you can have a look.

How to switch Instant ON on/off.

Enter Factory menu. Borrow any old IR Samsung remote or buy on Aliexpress for like $5.

Turn TV OFF.

Press INFO than MENU than MUTE than POWER

TV starts up and service menu appears

Should be in the MRT Options, but I can't remember, maybe in other Options. So switch just the INSTANT ON, nothing else and turn tv OFF.

I highly recommend to took screens of your PICTURE settings, those will revert to factory defaults so your precious calibration will be gone and you will have default ugly dynamic defaults.

I am also having the same problem with no signal from time to time (have a 65Q9FNA). For me changing Channel seems to work as as fix most times (using satellite TV). Sometimes i have to move the CH buttom op/Down more than 1 time.  I also got a Frame TV 43LS03 (not qled model but with the extact same one-connect box and one-connect cabel as i have with the 65Q9FNA) and i have never Got the "no signal problem" so far on my Samsung The Frame model.
