Sadly the EAP route won't work, maybe talk to the IT team and explain, ask them to sign in if they do not wish to share the wifi details.
It is the same with Samsung watches, i did not buy an LTE version for my son, thinking he can connect to the school wifi, but it is EAP as are many shopping centres now.
