Sky Q HDMI connection issues

Hi all. Going to bring up something that seems to have been an issue for a while and despite reading through every the posts on here, i've been unable to find a solution that works.

Purchase Samsung UE50CU7020 at the end of August 2024. No issues initially, but started having problems beginning of December 24.

TV no longer recognises the Sky Q box is on - green light shows on box. The only way i can get it to connect is by pulling the HDMI cable out of the TV and then it will "Scan for Devices", which allows it to pick up signal and everything is fine - until i turn the TV on again after an hour or so, when i have to go through the whole process again.

I have tried "factory reset" on the TV and made sure the Sky Q box has the most recent software update along with a reboot.

HDMI cable has been replaced and have tried various ways: TV on first, Sky on first, Sky on standby, Sky permanently on, HDMI 1 / HDMI 2, HDMI-CEC on / off

Sky Q box works fine with Sony TV.

Anything else i can try??

Have you changed any HDMI settings in the TV ? The particular one I was thinking is the HDMI switching that automatically detects devices.

This Google search suggestions might be worth a try.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Yes, i've tried it with this feature turned on and off, but unfortunately makes no difference.

Again a Google search. Perhaps if other devices are switching between HDMi on the TV correctly then the Sky Q box could be at fault.

This seems to be one of the threads that came top of a search. Might be worth a read through this thread to see if any suggestions are useful.

Thanks once again. I'll have a read through and see if anything helps.

Bit strange how it was ok for the first couple of months though and works ok on our other TV??

@MiniJack-1967  i have looked into this before for other customers, whilst you might find other information in the Sky community thread some other main points below. . Some customers have found that issues happen less often if they change the ECO setting to None but would still need to put the Box into standby manually.  Can you also try the  the HDMI settings in the Q Box  via Audio Visual.   obviously changing ports/HDMI cables has made no difference, for some customers has been a solution.

However there was information earlier that there is an compatibility problem with the One Connect Box and whilst they do work ok together the tuning of the distribution of the One Connect Box (q part of it) needs resetting at times (though do not think the CU7020 has the One Connect Box) Sky software engineers were working on it but as far as I am aware have not yet found a solution.

In any case sometimes you may need to reboot both the Skyq Box and the TV.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

Thanks for your reply @JAMES4578 . I have just made the HDMI changes on the Sky box, so will see what differences, if any are made. (TV has to be off for a couple of hours or so for it to show the problem)

I rebooted both the TV and Sky box yesterday, but it made no difference when putting the TV on today.

Should the changes i've made today make no difference, i guess the first port of call will be to contact Sky before Samsung, although having a read on the sky forum, having the box changed hasn't necessarily solved the issue.

Just to update. Even making the changes as suggested, still no difference. The quickest way for me to get sky working with the tv is to pull the HDMI cable out, then put it back in and let the tv do it’s scan.
I’ll give Sky a call to see if we can change the sky box, but must admit that I’m not holding much hope!

Will update again once this has happened.

I've had the same problem but in my case if I switch the q box on (green light) before the TV it seems to work so far...
