I have just bought a 32 inch Samsung NS5300 Television. My home cinema system Sony is Aux cable so I bought a Toslink Optical Audio converter but the maximum volume now available through my home cinema system is only average not loud at all. Why is this and how do I fix the problem? Weirdly if I do a sound test on my TV setting the tone it uses to test is really really loud. However the volume for the TV programmes etc is low?

Did you ever find this out? I too can't see the option for PCM gain anywhere in the service menu 😞

no, i start to think that qled 2019 series has not this settings in service menu and i don't know why, it so frustrating. Samsung can you confirm this??

I found it. After you entered to service menu go to the control-sound menu At first look you don't see any "PCM GAIN" setting and like you I thought it wasn't provided on my qled. In the end I made it pop out If you put the cursor on the last setting which should be SPDIF BYBASS (I think that's what it's called), click on it, move until you find the "NO BYPASS or something similar" setting then exit, you return to the control-sound menu. You should now see the SPDIFBYPASS setting set to "no bypass"; well now click on it and in the nex page you see this option only and now you can move with the cursor to right or left (left right arrows on the remote control the one with the commands); now you can see other settings appear that scroll horizontally and one of those is PCM GAIN. Take it from -9 to 0, don't touch the other things! Then turn off the TV and turn it back on again. NOW YOU HAVE SOLVED IT

Hello.
A little correction.
For avoid problems with dolby digital out is better to set bypass spdif to normal, speaker, pcm out and Never to "NO BYPASS"
You are able to scroll to other settings orrizzontaly as i said before even if you have set normal/speaker etc...
My suggestion is to maintain SPDIF BYPASS to NORMAL ,or SPEAKER. No change it to NOBYPASS as a said on the previoualy post

On my Frame 2023 I have located the sound service menu, and entered SPDIF BYPASS option. I have the following options:
NORMAL, HDMI, ADC, SPEAKER, MONITOR, PCM_OUT, PCM_MAIN, BT_MAIN, PCM_SUB, BT_SUB, BypassNONE
I was about to give up, then tried the following - which works:
Sound
=> cursor down to SPDIF BYPASS [it should be NORMAL]
=> select it so that you see a single box in top left which says "SPDIF BYPASS NORMAL"
=> now press UP on the remote => SPDIF PCM Gain -9
Cursor to the right to adjust to 0 (the max allowed). Exit out and restart the TV at the power.

I should add here that following me increasing PCM GAIN to 0dB it seems the volume of the TV (without amp and speakers) has significantly increased also.
This is a little worrying as too much pre-amp gain can cause clipping and distortion which will, in time, damage speakers.
There might be a very good reason why Samsung set the gain to -9dB.

I understand but pcm gain affect only spdif out so it s impossible that your tv volume without speaker or external amp is growed.
The clipping at 0 db i can assure you that is not possibile.
Increasing up to 0db maybe can create little clipping but only at high values. Clipping otherwise doesn t damage speaker but if it will be occured for sure ruined your audio experience 😀
you can set pcm gain at -2 if you re worried . -9 db is too low for my stereo amp connected to tv. For my home theater 5.1 the pcm gain at -9 can be accettable.

Does anyone know how to enter the Service menu on a S95C with a Smart remote?
I've found that I can use "Mute - Up - Down - Enter" to enter the Hotel menu, but how do I get further, to the Service menu so I can change the stuff I want?
I Wonder because I also think the volume on the optical out is way too low.

I've got this same problem with my Samsung QN85D. After reading this thread I bought a full Samsung remote and can now access the service menu with the Mute, 1, 1, Enter option but then the arrows on the remote won't work. I can change the Hospitality mode from off to on and back again by scrolling left/right, but cannot scroll up or down. I've also tried the up and down with the smart remote and up and down with the remote app on my phone with no luck. Does anybody have any ideas on where to go from here? It's frustrating being this close to fixing this issue and being stuck on basically the last step!
