Samsung TV not displaying volume numbers

I have a Samsung QE55S90CATXXU connect to a Samsung T400 Soundbar by Bluetooth. The volume numbers no longer display, only the + and - symbols display  - why ?
I have disconnected and reconnected many times and it doesn't help. Any ideas please ?

Also happens with brand new QE77S90C and Samsung Soundbar. Returned soundbar and bought Denon DHT-S218 instead with same results. No volume numbers when soundbar is connected via HDMI eARC, or Bluetooth, or optical. Surely there must be a fix, this is a new tv.
