Hi,

Just started using Samsung QN900B 8K TV and Denon AVC-X4800. Both are great products but I can't make eARC work. There are continuous audio dropouts both with TV programs and streaming apps when using Dolby Surround or Dolby Atmos. Only two channel PCM audio works with eARC. Samsung support re-installed TV's firmware and replaced main board of One Connect Box but it didn't help. Denon support re-installed latest firmware on AVC-X4800  and replaced HDMI card but it didn't help either. Both Samsung and Denon said that this was all they could do to solve the issue. 5 different HDMI cables were tested, certified and non-certified but it did not help. Also several different combinations of settings have been tested.

When reporting findings back to Samsung, they said that there is a possibility for incompatibility like this between Samsung and third party products. Before returning TV and receiver and trying some other products it would be nice hear from other users of Samsung-Denon product combination if you have experienced similar incompatibility issues and managed to solve them.  Also information about known working product combinations are highly appreciated when it comes to eARC between 8K TV and AVR.  Thank you in advance for your feedback!

I have the same issue with my QN800B after the latest update to firmware 1602.  Prior to this update everything worked fine and I was able to get Atmos.   I previously had my Samsung a6a replaced due to a bad hdmi board so at this point everything was working fine...... until this update.  Now trying to get my Atmos back 😩

Exaxt same strory. LG TV and Marantz AVR. I get audio drops. Marantz says its LG fault but with Onkyo there is no problem. Denon and Marantz share most PCBs and solutions - push Denon support to solve the issue.

I'm having the same issues. Just got a QN900C, set everything up correctly with the proper HDMI cables and eARC works for a few minutes then drops out and doesn't work any longer. I am using it with a Yamaha RX-A3060 AVR that has been flawless with everything until now. I wish I could just use the screen on this TV and ditch the whole One Connect. It's just a mess. I prefer using the Amazon Fire Cube TV actually. Everything plugs into my AVR and I just switch sources. The One Connect would be nice if the audio worked. I can't make it send sound to the Yamaha consistently. I don't want to use optical connect because then you lose the true ultra HD sound quality. What do we do?

I have the same issue with my QN900B. I am getting frequent HDMI audio dropouts. Like every 2 minutes for about one second.

At first I changed my HDMI cable. No changes. Then I contacted Denon support and they made me send in my AVR in order to replace the HDMI board in my AVR-X48000H. Still no changes, the dropouts are still there. Since you can read about this issue all over the Internet it would be good if someone would come up with a solution. This really sucks.

Is Samsung investigating this issue together with D&M?

I got the following info from Denon about the eARC-incompatibilities between my qn95a and avc-x4800h:

We are aware of the issue and are currently investigating in conjunction with both Samsung and LG, as it effects some but not all of their TV's and is also present with some but not all of our current AVR's (as well as other AVR Manufacturers like Yamaha for example.)

As soon as we can identify the cause of the issue, the relevant parties will be looking into potential resolutions for whatever products are involved.

We do apologize for any inconvenience caused in the meantime.

Well at least they know they have a problem, how a major tv manufacturer can’t get this to work I’ve no idea. Fingers crossed they sort it asap..
