Samsung Frame 2020 and Sonos Amp connected via HDMI ARC

When I change the sound output to built-in TV speakers in Samsung TV, it automatically changes back to HDMI ARC sound output in a few seconds.

Sometimes I want to use the TV with its built-in speakers, so I don't want it to always automatically and persistently switch to the HDMI ARC sound output.

How can I disable this automatic switching?

I experience the same problem with the 50RU7100 and my new Sonos amp.  I don't exactly know when it started, but I do now that I had the same problem with my Onkyo TX-SR309 receiver, except that I could switch off that reciever by hand and then the TV wouldn't force the HDMI playback via the receiver anymore. That's not possible with amp ofcourse (always on for streaming/multiroom). I tried some of the solutions stated in this topic, but they didn't help.

Weird thing is: in the old situation I tried to switch ARC off on the receiver and use the optical cable for sound, while keeping CEC on so I could still use my Samsung remote to switch on the receiver. This worked fine for a couple of weeks, but then it would randomly switch back to TV sound, bypassing the optical output? Workaround was the earlier mentioned "solution", using the ARC and switching the receiver off when I did want to use the TV speakers. Or switching off Anynet+ ofcourse. and use the optical cable. Far from ideal.

Why do Samsung TV's have so many issues with the sound output?

Just bought a QN85C which is a2023 model and i am having the same issue! its very annoying! Has Samsung responded at all to this thread! This is SO annoying. They work fine with the samsung soundbars. Why doesnt this work with the sonos products?

The only workaround I found was turning of anynet+ of the tv. Quite annoying to have to do this everything you use Bluetooth headphones, but it works on my Frame:

Correct,

There is another work around but there will be .5sec delay. If you have a Samsung phone.

1. Open "smart things" App

2. Add your TV here then click to connect phone to TV.

3. Then in the top right corner click the 3 dots and watch "TV live" on phone.

4. Pair your bluetooth device (My Buds) with phone and listen to TV via phone while watching your main TV screen.

5. Turn the TV volume down if its just you so you dont hear it twice. slight delay.

GOOD LUCK :smiling-face:

you can not fix this issue. Welcome to sonos and samsung blaming each other. I can tell you one thing.  I borrowed a friend's bose and it did not auto switch. Very annoyed with premium companies walking away.

If you have Sonos Arc and this issue then buying the Sonos Ace is the answer because Sonos headphones communicate with Sonos Arc to stop sound and send  the sound to headphones. I tried it in showroom.

4 years later and Samsung still haven't  come up with a fix??

Buying this 65" Frame was maybe a bad move!
