I have this problem too

Good afternoon.

ive recently purchased a Q90T. I came from a 2015 Samsung which had no frame rate issues at all.

The Q90T is great in every way apart from when watching Freesat or Now TV. Both of these broadcast in 50hz/50p. So I assume it’s something to do with this frame rate.

what happens is that when there is a small amount of motion on screen such as an interview or no panning etc then the screen shows something similar to the frame rate dropping in half and everything stuttering. Once motion picks up or shot pans around then it goes back to normal.

I had all picture clarity settings set to off but I then played around with settings such as judder reduction and blur reduction etc to see if I could eliminate the stutter but nothing works.

its really bad watching football on free sat or now tv as it’s stutters quite a lot.

weirdly, not all programmes stutter. I’ve watched some catch up tv on now tv as well as movies and these show perfectly without any stuttering and all content on Netflix etc are all fine as well.

I am on the latest firmware.

any ideas if this is common or if there is a fix as nothing I’ve tried works.

thank you

Yes a few of us have raised with Samsung. Most of us have been told that Samsung are ‘unaware’ of any issues with tv. However some people have had more positive responses and have been told that Samsung is looking into and working on a fix.

Have you checked out the AV forums? For some reason there’s not many people replying on the Samsung forums. However, on AV forums there’s a number of people responding regarding the issues. Think it’s on about 16 or so pages now.

I have my weekly chase tomorrow about the gurgly sound. I’ll make sure it’s referenced then too. I’m fed up with this tv. Replaced a perfectly good Samsung that was 7 years old. Waste of money

Not sure what the gurgly sound is you mention. Definitely not something I’ve experienced. Apart from the frame rate slow down I actually think the tv is really good. Yes it suffers a bit with DSE but I knew that was highly likely before buying but is unnoticeable in most programs so doesn’t bother me. I just want them to sort the stuttering issue out and then I can start enjoying the tv without having to keep changing settings and put it in game mode to watch sky sports etc.

Gurgly sound is an artefact that is witnessed in some TVs at lowish volume. Disappears if you mute or connect a soundbar. All inputs affected.

ive posted about it somewhere and went through the same “not a fault” “we’ll send an engineer” “they’ve replaced main board and speakers, there is no problem”, “there are no known bulletins we’ll send another engineer” to “engineer cancelled as it’s a known thing” “please await a software update imminently” replies. Just (excuse the pun) noise

Sorry to hear that. I used a surround system so don’t use inbuilt speakers so haven’t encountered this.

Same issue on Q90T. But unrelated to 50hz. Just happens randomly

Use a device that can change resolution and frame rate. Mine was set to auto and was doing 4k 60 fps and was unmatchable. Changed to 4k 24 fps and everything was buttery smooth. I use this https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/foxtel-now-box-1

Sorry but doesn’t work. I use a roku device which changes resolution based on content on screen. So now tv plays at 50hz  amazon movies play at 24hz etc. This still doesn’t fix the issue.

Same happens in the U.S , I have the Tu8000 and this is even noticeable in built in apps, but as others have mentioned game mode seems to be a temporary fix for now at least.
