In thr last couple of days something has changed. Now when I am streaming Netflix and go into the menus to turn the picture off (I like to sleep with the sound on), as soon as the menu comes up the playback pauses. This means if I put the picture off then the playback doesn't restart hence picture off is now unusable. It doesn't do this with other streaming services but my panasonic tv doesn't do it in Netflix. Hence I'm really confused what the cause is but I'm leaning towards a Samsung tv issue or a netflix app on only Samsung Tv issue. Spoke to Netflix and they've said its down to the Tv. Can anyone help?

I haven't checked in a week or so, I'll have a look when I get home and see if anything has changed.

Yeah, sounds like a recent update might’ve changed how the Netflix app works on Samsung TVs. I’ve seen similar stuff happen after firmware updates. You could try checking for any pending software updates on your TV or even reinstall the Netflix app. If it’s only happening on Netflix and only on Samsung, it’s probably something on their end hopefully a fix comes soon.

From what I can see, everything is up to date. I'm guessing you can't roll back tv updates?

HI,
The same thing is happening for me. If you turn the screen off and then press the Enter key (one in the middle of the 4 arrows), the menu will come back up with the programme playing. Press Enter again, and the screen will turn off, but the programme will continue playing.

I want to go into the picture settings while the movie is playing to adjust the picture and I don't like it pausing on its own

Sorry, I thought you had the same screen off issue. It is really annoying, what made them think this was a good idea?

Thanks but that didn't help. I tried all that and it made no difference. The picture pauses when the menu is on screen and if you go to screen off it doesn't come back no longer how much I wait. I pressed the centre key twice and all that does it brings the picture back and turns it off again.

This is the same on both my 2024 model Samsung tvs. Pressing settings pauses picture. But I have noticed a work around. Put prog on Netflix. Go into settings knock screen off as usual and wait don’t press nothing which would put screen back on. After a minute or 2 when the settings menu closes its self on the tv the Netflix auto restarts the playing of the video with the screen off. U can than carry on as you used to with pic off and vid playing.
