Purple screen / purple tinged picture / no sound / no access to home etc UE50RU7400UXXU -but not always

TV has recently started behaving oddly as above. If unplugged / restarted sometimes fine, but mostly starts with purple tinge & no access to home / start menu etc. Sometimes no picture at all, sound only, or purple screen when change channel to an empty one. Have done app refresh thing and then reset but to no avail.

Confused - if software / app problem reset should have done it, if physical / electrical problem why is it sometimes ok?

nb not a purple screen hdmi issue - nothing plugged in

Hi @Saint_Nick. To rule out any software problems, let's update the software. Press the Home button > Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now.

You may reset the picture settings to restore all picture settings to factory default. Press the Home button > Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Reset Picture.

Problem is in this state you can't get to a menu. Last time it started up ok I did a full factory reset...

As has happened before it’s now working (for now…). So I’ve checked the software (version 1420 says no updates available) & reset the picture. As mentioned above I did a full reset before so I’m not expecting a permanent solution…Will report back. N
