I'm not sure what might be going on here.

I recently replaced my Samsung TV (Series 6 Smart UHD TV) with another Samsung TV (UE55NU7300K) because the old one had a screen fault. Since then I notice occasional (like less than once a day) choppy sound.

I have a Samsung sound bar wired through HDMI ARC on the TV into HDMI out on the sound bar. This is as recommended and was the case with the older tv. (My sound bar is about 4 years old and doesn't appear to support UHD pass through.)

We have Sky Q wired direct from the sky box to HDMI 1 on the TV, and use Sky even when watching terrestrial channels. I have noticed the choppy sound when watching recordings and live tv. If I rewind and playback the choppy bit it doesn't repeat.

I'm not sure where to start. Currently I have disconnected the sound bar but I'm thinking that if it doesn't happen in that configuration it doesn't necessarily mean that the sound bar is at fault, it could be the ARC port on the TV for example.

So I'm not really sure how to troubleshoot this and identify the cause of the problem and given how slippery Samsung are these days, even get them to take responsibility or have a look.

Anyone any ideas please?

Problem solved - I returned the TV!!
Shame, nice TV but problem with the sound that Samsung support were frankly useless in helping with. The saga ....
1) Called Samsung, they asked for a video of the problem - this was sent within minutes because I had one.
2) They promised a return call that afternoon - I got an immediate email confirming receipt of my email and file attachment that said they would respond in 24 to 48 hours.
3) Two days later, not having received a call, I phoned Samsung to be told the email had no attachment. I advised that it most certainly had and their system must have removed it. Subsequently told that it had been received and tech supp would get back to me.
4) Next day got a call from Samsung tech supp asking whether I had sent the video!!
5) Advised them that I had returned the TV under the 30 day no quibble warranty that you get with QVC, the online shopping channel.
6) As I had a previous 50" Samsung Smart TV that failed after two years, and this one with a fault that Samsung were  very poor at supporting me with, I have now purchased a Sony. At the end of the day its the support that really matters and its rubbish.

The video isn't available. But anyway my solution was to return the TV, I was getting nowhere with Samsung and it was brand new.

Thanks for your reply , the video still shows " awaiting approval "

I have my Sonos beam connected via HDMI arc and it does this choppy sound once every 4/5 days ! It just sounded like your sound clip and I would have loved you to listen to the video just to see if it was the same / similar , I can't even DM it you .
