Hello,

I'm getting crazy trying to make Samsung 55 S95D TV and Denon amplifier (model AVR-X1400H) work:

no way for having TV audio played by the Denon.

- connections are fine (checked also by Samsung support), HDMI Arc of the DENON is connected to HDMI 3 (arc) of the S95D box;
- HDMI cable is fine (tried 3 different cables, one brand new purchased);

- the TV recognizes the DENON since, when I select the DENON as TV output and change volume, on the DENON I can see the volume changes. But nothing is played by the speakers.

- the DENON properly reproduces audio (Spotify, DVD, etc.)

- the DENON was properly working with the previous TV (LG 55UF685V);

- Samsung TV and DENON amp has got the latest firmware.

Two additional information:

- I can't see the  DENON menu on the TV (no chance!!!), the TV can switch the amp on and off on HDMI 3 but the Denon menu is not shown on the TV.
- After 20 seconds I choose the DENON as TV output, the DENON switched off (I discovered that is the TV to send the command because if I deactivate the control of the DENON via HDMI the AMP is not switching-off anymore).

Does anybody have hints, suggestions... anything?

I actually have a brand new top-of-gamma TV that is not working with my DENON AVR-X1400H receiver. 😞

Thanks in advance to anybody will put himself on test for a so strange problem!

Ditto. I have a Samsung 65" QLED TV that is 4 yrs old and never had this problem until recently. I'm guessing it was a recent firmware update. I tried finding the release date, but I guess Samsung does not publish it. Now on my TV, to make it work I have to go to Home: Source: and highlight TV in order for it to communicate with my Denon S750H. If I don't do this the AVR faults to ROKU connection. Apparently, they forgot to program the eARC to "talk" with another connected eARC AVR. "Or is it just Denon recievers?"

I am able to get the Denon menu on the TV but I had go thru hoops to get there. Every time I figuratively stumbled there so I cannot say how I was able to do it.

Good Luck!!!!

I'm giving up.

No way to make the thing work.

I also connected the optical cable: I can hear the sound but I can't use the TV remote for changing volume.
If I enable the HDMI input, I can still hear audio via the optical cable and finally change volume with TV remote but... after 10 seconds the TV switches off the Amplifier changing audio to TV speakers.

Absolutely crazy. No way to get rid of the problem.

The S95D can't properly talk with Denon AVR-X1400H, even if it recognizes it properly and drive the Denon volume properly.
Bah.

Same exact issues here, exactly, with Samsung 55 S95D to a Denon AVR S760H. Wish I could offer help.

Same issue for me. S85d and Denon X4700h. My last Samsung Qled did not suffer from this problem.

Joining the queue: same issue here, trying to have a QE65 work with a Denon DRA-900H. Tried it all. Only way to have sound through the receiver is via optical, and as a consequence 2 remote controls to be used in parallel.
Waiting for relevant suggestions...

Same question: have you called Samsung support? If they don't see it's a common problem, they don't do anything.
