I have two Samsung smart TVs, the model numbers of which are:
  • UE43RU747
  • UE43TU7100KXXU
I also have a Samsung Galaxy A21s mobile phone.

I have Google Photos albums on both my mobile phone and on my iPad. I would like to be able to view those photos, if possible, on one or both of my TVs. In the belief, possibly mistaken, that to do this I needed to install the SmartThings app on my mobile, I did this and connected it to the second of the TVs. I was unable to do so with the first TV. Please let me know what else I have to do to be able to view the Google Photos.

basically pull down the top menu (the one with loads of buttons) click on smart view and search for your telly, if smart view is not on that menu search for it in the settings 👍

Thanks AshS20.

SmartView has been superseded by SmartThings. I have installed that on my mobile and connected the mobile to my TV, but I can't figure out what to do next to view the photos.

I am also looking for a solution to this. I want to cast my Google Photos album to my Samsung 55AU7700 Smart TV. I also want the TV run through the photos in the album when it not being used as it happens on Andriod-based smart TVs

Android TVs will only allow you to use pictures from your native Android Gallery app that have been uploaded to your Samsung account or pictures that are actually on your phone

. But Samsung terminated their cloud services and migrated all data to Microsoft OneDrive. So, the Gallery app may not work anymore. Android TV and Google TV are different. Even though they're both developed by Google and technically both Android, they're different BRANDS. For instance, Samsung Galaxy phones run Android OS and work seamlessly with Google services. Google Pixel phones also run Android OS and work seamlessly with Google services.  The thing is, Pixel phones offers Google features exclusive to Pixel usees. For instance, with a Pixel you pretty much have Google voice installed in your phone. It has a built-in call screen option where you can require known/unknown callers to state their business/identity. Giving you the ability to know who it is and what they want. On Android, you have to download Google Voice to do that and it only works through you Google Voice number. Long story short, there's no way to use your Google Photos for a screensaver on Android TV. You'd have to do it through Samsung services. Download the pictures you want from Google Photos. Download the SmartThings app and link it to your tv. Once it's linked you should see an option for Ambient Mode. There's a horizontal menu near the top. Go to "My Album" and select the pictures you want on your screensaver from the Gallery app. There's a limit on how many you can choose.
