I'm in the market for a new 32 inch Samsung TV for the bedroom.
It's a nice feature to be able to use headphones and still have control over the built in speakers.
Is this a standard feature on all TVs today or does inserting a headphone into the headphone jack automatically turns off the internal speakers. My ten year old TV in the bedroom has that feature and I was wondering if that is now a standard feature.

I'm responding to myself as I found a solution.
First, on this model (UE32T5300CEXXN), there is no headphone jack. I was forced to buy a digital to analogue converter (with a volume control) connected to the optical audio output.
It cost me €20 for the converter and another €4 for the Toslink (fiber optic) cable. (It's important to buy a converter that has a volume control.)
I used Velcro to attach this small device (about the size of a pack of cigarettes) to the back of the TV and now can use headphones while my wife is sleeping (or use headphones and still use the internal speakers, if I wish).
Problem solved.

@davehorne It would be derpendent on model. However if you go to Settings-General-Accessibility there may be an option for Multi Output Audio.
I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.
