Can you turn the default subtitles setting to "off" on the media player?

Hi - I have the Samsung 55" TU7020 TV and whenever I watch anything through the USB/media player, it always plays things with the subtitles on... I have to manually switch them off EVERY time. Just wondering if there's anything I can do so the default setting would be to play things with the  subtitles OFF? Thanks.

Hi there! Same problem - finaly got a solution:

While playing the video, access the option menu, choose subtitles, scroll down to text-opacity and turn it to see-through.

In addition to the answer suggesting putting subtitles as opaque, you can follow the option as guided below and turn off subtitles. It's hidden in the settings.

The only trouble with that though is you have to do it each and every time... 🥴  Once you've changed the text opacity to see-through though, it stays that way.

Very clever solution. Good one! Had to also change edge type but got them hidden in the end.

However...this is absolutely ridiculous that they're on by default. Why would Samsung rather cater to a minority and hassle a majority? They should be off by default and if people need them, they can turn them on. I have a really cheap TCL tv and it does the right thing. I haven't had a Samsung tv in a decade and this new one keeps shocking me with their poor decisions...what happened to sound modes (movies, music, voice, night etc)? Now I have to set the equaliser myself? I won't buy another Samsung in future....its just fail after fail

Another thing...when I plug the USB stick in it starts the USB menu! I don't always want to play the USB the second I connect it. Again...the TCL doesn't do this (it does bring up a message that it's connected by that goes after seconds and doesn't interrupt what's playing at the time!). What are Samsung thinking?!
