Hi

I've been having trouble getting auto game mode to work with my xbox one x. When I first unboxed the TV and went through the setup guide it automatically recognised the xbox as a games console and automatically switched to game mode when I loaded a game up. After tweaking some settings (can't remember which exactly) auto game mode on the tv is now greyed out. I reset the TV again the other day and the function worked again but then after changing some picture settings it no longer works!

TV is a nu7500

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Found the problem. When “Allow variable refresh rate” is enabled on the xbox1, it keeps the option on permanently Regardless of content and is why the auto game mode on Samsung displays stays on. Once you disable the VRR option the Auto game mode works fine. Games still look good in 60hz 4K and I don’t notice much of a difference.

The reason it disables game mode when you edit the picture settings is because the whole point of Game Mode is to remove any video processing to reduce latency. Changing the picture settings requires the TV to process the image which defeats the point of Game Mode

Maybe reading our replies a bit more carefully before you even consider getting in the thread might save some time and embarrassment. I figured out the issue I had and solved it. Thanks

To fix the auto game mode on your Xbox you need to unplug your hdmi cables from the box and the tv (well just to be sure) then plug them in, your tv will detect the hdmi slot as your Xbox and it should display as auto game mode is on

If you enable VRR on any XBox 1 S or X or series S or X, game mode will always stay on regardless of content. When you disable VRR on those consoles, auto game mode works perfectly. I hope Samsung will update their displays to recognize the PS5

Nope. I disabled VRR and still don't get Auto Game Mode.

That is not correct. I do not have VRR on (because I can't use it anyway). It has everything to do with having my AVR as my input hub. If I plug my XSX directly into my Q8, Auto Game Mode works as intended. The issue there is the eArc HDMI only supports 5.1 audio, and that makes half of my audio setup pointless.

Sadly $8k down the drain. I'm done being punked by Samsung.

At the moment Samsung TVs don’t detect PS5’s ALLM. The only thing I’ve noticed that is recognized between the two is VRR. If you enable Freesync on your tv the PS5 detects it and lets you enable VRR.

Unfortunately, as far as ALLM is concerned auto game mode detection on the Samsung does not work for PS5.

I personally let my Series X handle streaming/media & 4K BD playback and use my PS5 purely for gaming (I just keep game mode on). I’m still waiting for Sony and Samsung to update their devices to recognize each other.
