Audio output keeps switching to TV Speakers

I've just bought a UE43AU8000, and I'm having an issue with the audio setup. It's connected to a Sony DAV-DZ260 DVD Home Theater System via HDMI (on the ARC port) and Optical.

The main issue is that when you switch the audio output on the TV from 'TV Speakers' to 'Receiver (HDMI)', it will switch back to 'TV Speakers' in a few seconds. In the few seconds it is outputting to 'Receiver (HDMI)' everything is working perfectly, audio is being outputted over the optical cable, and volume control is going over HDMI. Switching it to 'Optical' output does stick, but obviously I lose volume control.

Now I realise that the receiver is pretty old now, and doesn't support ARC or eARC, but the TV is capable of doing exactly what I want, it just won't stay there.

Does anyone know how to fix this, and get it to stay on the 'Receiver (HDMI)' output setting?

Make sure there are no Bluetooth devices in search mode.. I had the same issue and tried everything else recommended on these boards.  Once I disabled the bluetooth on my computer the soundbar stays connected.

So I better understand, can you please elaborate? I have no devices connected to my QN75Q60 that have active Bluetooth (AV receiver connected via hdmi/optical and Apple TV via hdmi).

It was not connected devices causing the problem, it was simply a bluetooth device searching for new connections.  Every time it started to search for a new device, the soundbar would jump to the tv speaker.  Once I disabled the bluetooth on my computer for searching for new devices, the soundbar stays connected to eArc.

So in your case, do you believe the root cause to be your TV or your soundbar hosting the Bluetooth connection?  Disabling Bluetooth on a non-connected device (e.g. your computer) seems more like a workaround for your specific situation.  I have ~12 active Bluetooth devices/connections in my home (phones/tablets/laptops coming and going).  I have no Bluetooth connection for my AV receiver, so if this is the correct path of the problem (Bluetooth), it seems that this is pointing to a firmware issue with the TV, by not being able to disable Bluetooth on the TV.  Disabling all active external Bluetooth devices within range in my home is not a practical solution for a single TV to work properly.

Looks like we're headed in the right direction, but still not solved.

This thread is marked solved, but I don't believe that it is.  Does anyone know how to "un-solve" this thread so it doesn't go unnoticed by Samsung? Assuming that Samsung is monitoring.

In my case it was the Bluetooth device searching for new connections.  I have many other Bluetooth devices but they are not looking for a device (like the soundbar).  You could check to see if any of them are doing this and disable them to see if it helps.

Ive managed to solve my issue with the audio switching back to speakers.

I have a Onkyo TXNR626 receiver.

HDMI cable on the eARC port.

And "main" on the receiver (i believe all of them are eARC ports)

I factory reset first receiver and then tv. I enabled eARC on both tv & receiver and it started working.

BUT now I have this annoying blackscreen occasionally. HDMI sound works but screen goes out for about a second. A clicking sound occurs and (like a relay click) and then it works again.

Ive noticed to REDUCE it from happening you have to turn on the receiver first and then the TV. So something that the TV dont like from the transmission. There is a separate thread about this since 2017.

Still think its a joke that they have set this thread as solved.

I just got a Samsung 43" Q60A and had this exact issue. Very annoying. I solved it at first by moving the HDMI sound-bar to a non eARC HDMI socket. However, I then solved it fully by re-configuring my cabling strategy.

Previously, because my old Samsung TV had only 1 HDMI socket, I had all my entertainment devices routed direct into my sound-bar, and then sound bar output routed into the TV, with video pass-through in operation. The new Q60A evidently didn't like this when on an eARC cable, and kept grabbing back the sound channel. So, as the Q60A has many HDMI sockets, I rearranged everything to have all entertainment devices going direct to the Q60A, and then a single eARC cable going from TV to the sound-bar with audio pass-through in operation.

Hey presto - it works with no sound issues now 😊 (Also the TV better identifies many of the devices in the 'Sources' section now).

Man, you rock!.  Been searching like hell to find a fix for this. Lots of people with this problem going back years, but your fix WORKED.  It really was simple and made sense after you shared it. I rerouted all my devices directly into TV and ran single HDMI from TV eARC to soundbar eARC -Bingo. Everything works perfectly!!! I even think the picture is better -QN55QN90A, 2021 Model. Much thanks!
