UE37ES630 ULED SMART TV

Can only access internet using Samsung TV browser which only supports HTML 4

Unable to run apps requiring HTML 5

Silverline fix no longer available

1) Is there an update to Samsung TV browser which only supports HTML 5 .. and if so how and where can one get it?

2) Are there any HTML 5 Browser Apps .. and if so what are they .. and how and where can one get them?

3) Are there any other fixes or work arounds?

Many thanks and much appreciated, Denis

HI @Eponymous66  Do you have the latest update  2010.0 which was released  May 2020 https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/UE37ES6300UXXU/     However the ES6300 is now 10 years old and do not think  the Tizen Browser can be updated to the latest version . see more here https://www.tab-tv.com/how-to-update-samsung-smart-tv-tizen-os-to-a-new-version/

However in any case the Tizen Browser does not have the functionality of a computer , there are limitations  with video via the Browser and some HTML5 files will not be supported in modern Tv's  here https://www.lifewire.com/samsung-smart-tv-web-browser   only real work around would be another connection be it a PC/other device  or via screen mirroring.  Some detail here https://www.alphr.com/samsung-tv-add-web-browser/

James hi,

Thank you for such a comprehensive and informative response.  It looks like the simplest and best value solution is the Fire TV Stick Lite with Alexa Voice Remote Lite and where all that is needed is to plug it into an HDMI port.  Much appreciated.

Best,

Denis

Thanks James.  I find plugins that completely externalise a drive, device or platform are by far the most effective way of fully updating a system or bypassing elements that are no longer functional.

A good example is an ethernet port which frequently physically wear out.  For a nominal fee the Lindy USB adaptor is an excellent example of a low cost and effective fix.  (I have mentioned Lindy by name as as it comes with its own drivers and cheaper versions do not and appropriate  Windows drivers cannot be located.)

Best, Denis
