The apps on my smart tv all seem to crash after about 5-10 minutes and will just not load or play anything else. I can navigate the Samsung menu but everything else stops working. Turning the TV off with the remote does nothing. Turning the TV off at the plug and back on again seems to reset it so that it works again for 5-10 minutes.
The system settings say the internet connection is fine while this happens and like I say it does work for the first 5-10 minutes of being on. My phone works well at twice the distance from the router and moving the TV closer has not helped.
I've tried resetting to factory settings and that was a waste of time. There is apparently no software update available either.
I have had this issue for quite a while but was forced to stay elsewhere due to COVID so haven't used the tv at all in that time. Back today and I'd forgotten how terrible it is. Impossible to relax in front of a TV that stops working so often. I'm at my wit's end.
The back of the TV says the model is UE50RU7100K

I was just about to post the same question because I'm getting really sick of it and want to know if Samsung are ever going to address the issue with a long-term solution. With so much streaming and entertainment coming from my Smart TV during lockdown, it's just painfully obvious that the Smart Hub is not fit for purpose. Every app I use has some problem or another. Trying to stream a theatre production or sports event on the Youtube app, it inevitably crashes the whole TV after 15-30 minutes. Now TV might get through an episode but then fail to load another and crash. Same with Amazon Prime, but with added audio/visual sync problems and loading error messages. Mubi will give up halfway through a film and will fail to play from a certain point. Netflix seems the most stable, but even that throws error messages and gets stuck loading occasionally.
None of the advice given works as a solution. I cannot keep unplugging and resetting the TV, or deleting caches, or deleting and reinstalling apps, or reinstalling the Smart Hub, or factory resetting, every ***** time I want to watch something. But Samsung do not seem willing or able to sort out the problem.
There is a whole thread on this here in case you want some commiseratation: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/tv/smarttv-apps-keep-crashing/td-p/367306

After my TV (model: UA43TU8500) worked fine for about 2 years I experienced the exact same problem recently. Tried updating the software via USB, which didn't work. I kept getting the message that there wasn't any newer version available for my TV. Tried resetting to factory settings, which didn't work either (annoying waste of time as you have to re-enter the passwords for all the apps after the reset). Just changed the wireless network settings of the TV to connect to the slower 2.4 GHz network of my router (instead of using the faster 5 GHz speed). This seems to fix the issue as I have been able to use streaming services without any interruptions for over an hour now. Yeah! Obviously, this is only a workaround as the TV should really support 5 GHz, which it even connects to by default if such a network is available.
