Help please: when we unboxed the new TV there was no screen protector to peel off, only the ones on the side and edges. I found it quite unusual. Now I wonder if there is indeed a protective plastic sheet on the TV screen and if it could be the one shown in the picture below. Shall I leave it be? It seems pretty unusual that the screen has this edge. Many thanks for the help.is this a screen protector we need to peel off?is this a screen protector we need to peel off?

Oh wow - I must have synced in to your Samsung tv vibe. haha I know what you mean about paying the repairs. I confess that I did the same, in the hope that Samsung would do the right thing and reimburse at least a portion (they didn't). I just couldn't bear the idea of throwing so much tech into landfill. I paid about the same as you did, if I convert the Australian dollars over. Ridiculous that they can't affix a new film to the existing screen and have to replace the whole screen. Well I hope you get to enjoy some time in Tenerife. Maybe put some masking tape over the Samsung logo for your viewing pleasure. :smiling-face:

I have a Q80 tv and was just cleaning it today and noticed a film over it. I assumed I’d missed it when opening it(had the tv about 18 months) anyway I peeled it off tv works fine ? Not sure weather it shoulda come off or not

Hi James. Thanks for your post. It demonstrates very well the variation between the Samsung models regarding the presence or otherwise of removal film. I’d been told by Samsung (after the event) that film should not be removed if there is no sticker affixed saying to remove it. Out of interest, did your screen have such a sticker?

No there wasn’t any stickers on it. But I’ve had it nearly 2 year. It was only by chance I noticed it today when cleaning a mark of the frame.
I didn’t  even think twice about removing it , I thought I must of just missed it when setting it up.
Tv seams fine tho. Still not sure weather I should of taken it off

That’s really interesting. Thanks for letting us know, James. The tv I had was also a 2020 model and had no sticker on the front but in my case removing the film destroyed the tv. Samsung’s response was that it was my misuse (removing the film when there was no sticker to say to do so) that caused the problem so my warranty was void. Clearly, there is variability amongst the different models and no consistency about their labeling and instructions so it certainly is a case of “buyer beware”. Bet you anything Samsung doesn’t offer an explanation on this thread.
