Hi - can anybody confirm when this upgrade to my One Connect box will be available in the UK? I have a UE48js9000 which i bought in 2015, which Samsung sold on the basis of its upgradeability - well it's now been three years with no upgrades offered!
I understand that the SEK-4500 will be what i am looking for but i can't see anywhere i can buy it.

No none of the JS9000 have any other ports on the back, just the ONE CONNECT Cable port...
I've read in the past that the new SEK-4500 needs to be daisy chained through your original SAMSUNG EVOLUTION KIT that you received with your tv... since I haven't got hold of the SEK-4500 I can't varify this. Try that method but please first do a bit of research first before you do so..
Anyone who has got one up and running unfortunately has not bothered to explain in detail, what they did to accomplish it.
So as I said before, what I found out was that The SEK-4500 needs to be connected via the SEK-3500. If this is the case then you will be down by one HDMI PORT...
As you now have an SEK-4500 please do share your findings with us all...

Just read this post of yours after replying to your last one... thanks for the clarification...it's truly appreciated...
Did you buy the version that has both Freesat and Freeview connections on the
Yes Ashykhan. I have the sek 4500 with one terrestrial co-axe TV input and two f connections satellite inputs that I use for freesat, but you could also use another satellite TV provider if you prefer . I put in my post code and the evolution box did the rest. It is slightly confusing with the two evolution boxes together as depending on the source of the TV you can bring up the menus and settings for the sek 3500, or the new interface of the sek 4500. The virgin media box I have is the latest version. It is the same as the one you see on TV adverts. Anyway at the moment when I select the virgin media box from the source button it takes slightly longer than the other sources that have been wired up via the hdmi ports. Also although I have selected the cable box and typed in the title virgin cable, it keeps changing the title to apple TV with the apple logo. Not sure how or why it is doing this because it is only just been installed. The TV lists have grown as well. You can see an extra 15 different channels that are not on satellite or terrestrial TV. Any other information you may want or need help with then please contact me and I'll try to help. Thanks for the feedback though. It is nice to be appreciated through this community blog.

I've given up on upgrading. Still annoyed at Samsung not running proper U.K. upgrades anyway. TV will never be true HDR so I'll wait for that till I change.
In the meantime the important thing to me was multiple 4K connections which I have through my AVR, using the 4K port on the OneConnect. It means I don't have ARC but with Sky Q there's no need for the smart tv. Only thing Sky Q is missing for me is Amazon Prime but I have that on my 4K Blu-ray player.
All done without giving Samsung any more money.

Hi
Yes totally agree I use an amazon 4k stick which can be modified with various apps, but also netflix and amazon work well through it.
To be honest HDR is a problem for me as most new series are all HDR.
What I ended up doing is looking online and there are some setting you can change on your TV that improve the image of HDR, I personally don't like HDR.
But would of liked samsung to of brought out a propper evolution kit for older tv

Agree with your frustration and glad I've not tried to update the box. The picture is 'fine' although I obviously accept its outclassed now by the best. The thing for me was multiple 4K sources so it looks to me like my 4K AVR solution (with the added benefit of HD sound) is the right way to go.

Hi frustrated 19,
I'm sorry I'm not very techy and I am a bit late on all of this and bought myself the Samsung UE55HU8500T (model from 2014) on eBay just now after checking the details and specs for it where it all said it was "future proof" but didn't read too much into the smart evolution boxes after checking the price of them and availability on eBay though I did notice sellers from Australia etc which I didn't think much about, but thought I'd wait to get one of the latest SEK boxes and I just assumed they would work foreign or not and I could upgrade to the latest level with all upgrades of the previous ones and didn't think about the possibility of losing my 3D or colour etc by upgrading with an SEK-4500 that you have to get from abroad as I've only found out... or even thought that it might not work in the UK.... but I thought I'd wait to get one of the latest ones thinking they were obviously making them still if they were on sale on eBay though did think them pricey. Can You or anybody please tell me....
1. Where did you get this from in Germany... is there a website you can give me for the suppler please?
2. Can I just upgrade straight on to the SEK-4500 rather than having to get the SEK 3500 etc. first i.e. without having bought the previous upgrade boxes?
3. If the German ones come with an HDMI connection which in your case you couldnt plug into your TV as it only had a mini display port but you could plug it into the old SEK 3500 ( can you ell me... did you also have a Connect One Box?).... whereas my UE55HU8500T TV literally has only 2 inputs... the power chord input to the TV which then in turn powers the box that is the TV's only other connection port which does look like some kind of HDMI type of port but I think it's bigger and specialised... but couldn't I just plug the SEK 4500 into one of the UE55HU8500T's Connect One Box(UE55HU8500TXXU) HDMI ports that does have 4 x HDMI 1.4a ports (1 x HDMI (STB), 1 x HDMI (DVI,) 1 x HDMI (ARC), 1 x HDMI (MHL) - don't know what the letters in the brackets means?) and if the Connect One Box contains all the other USB and aerial and SAT ports etc for the TV itself as well has HDMI's, can I not just plug the SEK 4500 straight into there?
4. I have also just read up about HDMI 1.4a vs HDMI 2.0 as... Just seen that they are HDMI 1.4a ports on another Specs website for myTV and it is very annoying that they aren't HDMI 2.0 which I assumed they would be, being UHD 4K 3D as this means I'm basically limited to 30 frames per second on the 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 resolution......... what type of HDMI ports does the SEK 4500 have?.... have they upgraded to HDMI 2.0 on this new box with only 3 ports and are you also able to connect devices to your old SEK 3500 HDMI ports as well as the SEK 4500 thereby increasing your HDMI ports or has it now limited you to just 3 ports?
5. Will I keep all the original features of the TV but just get some upgrades and what does the additional information and options or upgrades you menioned available on the new box actually include that's a lot dfferent?... remember I haven't bought any of the evoulution smart boxes... am I wishing too far to expect an HDR upgrade and can it now do 4k UHD 3840 x 2160 at 60 frames per second? what are the major steps up to consider buying this?
Thanks and I hope you're still an active member
