Spen screen recognition issue

I use the spen a lot for digital note taking and noticed that at specific parts of the screen the writing would be a few mm to the right of the pen tip. So I turned on show cursor and I can hover the pen across the whole screen and see the cursor bend away from the spen tip at multiple locations on the screen. Is this a firmware or software problem? It has made writing very frustrating. I reset the pen and it didn't fix it.

Do you have anything magnetic near your phone while your doing this

nothing specific. just arrived at work, took it out to take notes for a meeting and the deviation is gone. bizarre but maybe it's not the tablet after all (thankfully). I'll try again at home but I only remember it happening in one specific location in house. no electronics nearby at all. I'm even wearing a smart watch in all locations
