Reaches the range of thermal throttling within minutes with no case when gaming, is this normal?

Games tested

Fortnite

Minecraft

Also tested with 3Dmark.

50-55c is usually the max a device will get. I'm honestly amazed it's hit 85c and not shut down to protect itself. That should happen at maybe 60c.

I kinda hope the temperature sensor is just faulty

According to Samsung support 80C is normal during high loads.

It does throttle the screen brightness to half, but I do not note a performance difference at all, and I can still touch it with bare hands.

My S8 did the same thing, if not worse.

Where are you getting that info? As in, a normal operating temperature of a phone/tablet is maybe 35c, gaming maybe 40c. 50 and above is possible emergency shut down levels.

82C is not possible on a mobile device. If the reading were accurate, you would physically be unable to use your device without serious harm. It's more likely the monitor is misreporting any accurate figure, especially as you claim it doesn't feel any warmer.

yeaah probably just a falty temprature sensor, cos 82c like its been said already is just physically impossible for a phone to do
