I recently encountered an issue where playing HDR contents using the 1st party Video Player may get results as if the contents were decoded using regular SDR decoder, with image being much brighter across multiple regions. lronically, when there are other overlays (such as the options menu opened) it works well. I thought it might be related to brightness but issue remains. I am using S8 Ultra,
3rd party players, like VLC, are not affected. Does someone have an idea of what's happening, and how can it be addressed?

The video you're trying to play might be using a hdr format the inbuilt player either doesn't support very well or has issues displaying. Vlc supports a ton more formats and should convert formats to match your device. Thats my guess

Should not be, unless the inbuilt Player has dropped this format in past 5 years. The original Fold plays this video well (in 2020) and I remember quite clearly this video plays well in 2022 on this tablet. File has not changed (and stayed at the exact location) since then..

Is this a self made video or one that's publicly available?
For reference, I have my Tab S8 Ultra which plays my HDR10+ video in 2019 from my Note 10+ 5G without issues.
