I also spent a fair amount of time with Samsung, not much use, said it would be 7 - 10 days to process a refund of the new phone, no replacement etc.
Also called a company called Exertis, who manage calls on behalf of MTR Group. They again just pointed me to the help@tradeinresponse email, so not much use.
I guess it's 3 - 5 days without a working phone!

Good luck with that - I reached the 5 day limit for a response and got the following this morning.
"Thank you for your reply.
Please await a further email from us to confirm once investigated here."
0 hope at the moment that this will be dealt with swiftly.

Can a Mod in this forum help us escalate this again please? This is totally unacceptable.

This is the email I received today so I asked how to complain. Looks like a company called Knox?

Well, after 5 days, I finally got an email from Samsung's trade in team. It looks like a standard email.
Remember that this is on a newly purchased tablet that was NOT part of a trade in - it's the same problem as Asmith239 who originally set up this thread. Samsung is saying in their email that it's the retailer's fault.
Incidentally, I still get the "This device will be locked" message - but it's been about 6 days now. It still comes up and then I just swipe it away.
Has anyone's "This device will be locked" message on a TABLET gone away by itself??
