My Dad has just received a new Galaxy Tab A9+ and after the initial set-up it is asking for a PIN code input. He is not especially tech-savvy, but he swears that he did not set a PIN himself either on the device or on his Google account. Any idea what this code might be? He tried '1111' as I know Samsung have used this in the past for some devices and TVs, but it didn't work - and it also tells him that at least one char should be a letter, not a number.
He is unable to get past this and actually start using it.

It certainly looked new, and everything was sealed as you would expect.

Nope. Tried that. And as my post says, when he did try 1111 and 0000 it told him that at least one char was a letter not a number.
Anyway, thanks for the comments but he's given up and sent it back now and is going to reorder when the money is back on his account.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem!
I've had my Tab A9+ since last week, also from Amazon. It suddenly locked after setup. I've tried everything, but nothing works. I'm going to try contacting support by phone now. If they can't help me, I'll send it back. It's a bit annoying because some personal data (like various apps) was already on it during the initial setup.
