Active4 Pro tablet losing data connection to PC while connected via USB

I'm using my company's Active4 tablet for surveying data with an app called QField.

When I connect the tablet to my PC to sync data back to the PC, I have set the connection to "USB file transfer",  and initially, I can transfer files from the tablet, but the connection goes into "sleep mode" after  only 2-3 minutes, meaning that I can't access the tablet's files from the computer using Windows Explorer.

When this happens, I can still see the tablet's drive together with my other drives (C: ,  network drives etc)

By company policy, I am only permitted to connect the tablet by USB, this has become a major issue as I very often need to reconnect the USB cable to "reset" the connection.

Also, while I am connected to the PC, Explorer can't find files on the tablet that are created after I have connected it by cable.

The tablet is running Android 14, One UI 6.1, and  the PC has Windows 11. I've tried multiple PC's, different cables, same error. Also tried to enable Developer Mode to set USB file transfer as the default mode, the problem persists.

Would anyone be able to shed any light on this?

Grateful for any input!

Hello

If your Active4 Pro tablet is disconnecting from your PC via USB, the issue may stem from several areas, including faulty cables, outdated drivers, or power management settings. Start by inspecting the USB cable and ports for potential damage. Ensure both the tablet and PC have up-to-date drivers. You should also disable USB selective suspend in your PC's power settings to maintain a stable connection. If the problem continues, testing the connection on another PC can help confirm whether the issue is with the hardware.

Thank you for your reply!

I tried all of the above before except for the USB selective suspend, but unfortunately that didn't solve it. This doesn't happen on a Sony or Asus device, but happens on 2 Samsung tablets and and a Samsung phone, leading me to think Samsung has some kind of protection to protect parts of their file system.
