More widget stack options

Would it be possible to add the option to resize widget stacks on the home screen and add have more freedom to add different sized widgets to a stack (e.g. a 4x1 with a 3x1, or a 5x2 with a 4x1)?

I seems that the options available to add to a stack depend on the first widget used to create the stack?

It's a great feature already but could be better with some extra customisation options.
