Home screen customisation

It would be good to have more options to customise the OneUI Home screen. I wanted to move over to OneUI for a more integrated Samsung experience, but will be sticking with Microsoft Launcher, mainly for these four reasons:

- MS Launcher allows 5 columns x 8 rows (plus the app dock). This gives improved efficiency of screen real-estate and is better suited to larger phone displays. 

- With Launcher, I can toggle off the home screen app names, which looks generally cleaner. (I know what each app is by looking at the icon, I don't need the name too!)

-Launcher enables the 'installed apps list' to be scrolled vertically in one long window. This make navigation of multiple apps more convenient than swiping right through multiple windows. It also allows you to type the app name to find it. 

-I do prefer Microsoft Launcher's "Bing Wallpaper of the Day" compared with Samsung's alternative as the range of images are better.

I appreciate these observations are subjective, but it would be great to have the option to apply them or equally, choose not to.

I'm pretty sure most of what you are asking for is already available using the HomeUp goodlock module

Hi @ARamsay. Thanks for the suggestion. I've not tried installing Good Lock but presumably this is just swapping the Microsoft Launcher for a different add-in? I was hoping some of these home screen customisations might make it in to the core OneUi module.

The homeup add one adds the additional customisation to the default oneui launcher, its not a separate launcher

Thanks, yes I'd noticed this. I got excited when there was an update available today for it. Unfortunately it still gives the same error but more knowledgeable folk than me have advised it will work fine post-beta.

I stand by what I said earlier that these customisation features would be better placed in the native OneUI. Enabling it only within Good Lock probably hides it from a lot of the mainstream who aren't that interested in modding but might be more amenable to changing the manufacturer's available menu options.

As an aside, I'm quite careful about what I install, and had always avoided Good Lock because it looked like a "random" developer. After all these years, I never realised before that it was part of Samsung, and therefore trustworthy. I thank the beta community and moderators for pointing this out to me.
