Ok so bit of a rant about how smartthings is just utterly stupid in its design when it comes to setting up households etc. I recently decided to start using the smartthings app as I had bought some smarttag2's and I need the app to track them etc. Anyway after looking around I saw some features in there I liked and decided to use the app for more than just tracking the tags. It is at this point I immediately had issues as part of this decision meant setting up my household which is logical and all well and good until you want to add people to your household. Why is it that every member of my household in order to be part of my household has to set up their own household? This is the most stupid design idea and concept I have come across after Google making all children admins on the Google home platform! The idea behind this decision is apparently so an individual can add items to their smart things without them automatically being shared with the entire household. Surely a more logical less confusing way is to simply allow the member to select if the item is a whole household item or personal item at the point of connection. For example of I add a light or washing machine to the household devices I can select that it is a household item and when I add a headset I can say no don't share with the household add this as a personal item and make it only available to me. I ask this as with everyone having household items the constant switching to my wife's household or my kids household to turn devices off or on is just ridiculous and so against the concept of smart it boggles the mind that anyone on the apps design team still has a job there beyond mopping the office block floors! How hard could it be to just make an app that is genuinely smart and intuitive unlike the haphazard mess that is smartthings as it stands?
