My Samsung Galaxy smartag2 doesn't work. It used to beep. But not connect. I put in a new battery, now it does nothing.

Can you try the below :

1.Reset the SmartTag2:
There's usually a small reset button or pinhole on the device. Press and hold it for a few seconds to reset it.

2. Check for updates:
Make sure your phone's Bluetooth is on and the SmartThings app is up-to-date.

See if there's a firmware update available for the SmartTag2 within the SmartThings app.
3. Unpair and re-pair:

Remove the SmartTag2 from your SmartThings app.

Then, try adding it again as a new device.

4. Distance and Interference:

Make sure the SmartTag2 is within Bluetooth range of your phone (around 30 feet).

Avoid obstacles and interference from other electronic devices.

You can of course check with Samsung support for further help !

Thanks, but I've done all of that. I almost think the new battery i put in is dead. What are the chances of that? I've heard a lot of bad things about this tracker. It DID however, help on a recent trip to brazil and back. Thanks.

Ok, only two options I can think of right now :

Orientation: Make absolutely sure the battery is inserted correctly with the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals aligned properly. Sometimes a slight misalignment can prevent contact.

Type: Confirm you're using the correct battery type (CR2032) for the SmartTag2. Using the wrong battery can cause issues.

It's true that some users have reported issues with the SmartTag2, but many others have had positive experiences as you had in Brazil. It's possible you encountered a faulty battery or there might be other factors affecting its performance.

If these are fine, then Samsung support can help further.
