Hello. I woke up the other day (I'm in Australia) to a message "sim 1 not allowed" on my rather old but functioning Samsung Galaxy 8 phone. I contacted my network provider (Vodafone) who tried various things to fix it online & finally sent me to a Vodafone shop. Staff there gave me a new sim card which they tested in another phone with no problems. But as soon as it was inserted back into the Samsung Galaxy we got the same message so the phone is unusable for calls/texts or anything else unless connected to wifi of course. Their conclusion was that phones bought overseas (this one was purchased in UAE) are gradually having their IMEIs blocked by companies making them useless. Thanks for another great global decision Samsung...not! 🙄
