If your device is direct from Samsung then as you know it will be unlocked, HOWEVER, it also must have a CSC of BTU. I have seen several people state that their CSC was not set to BTU, I have no idea why but have a feeling that is to do with the the initial boot, if a sim card was in the device and what options were selected. I do believe there may be one to set the CSC.
This then leaving people who purchased from Samsung with unlocked devices but also ones that will not receive the Beta due to having a different CSC Code.
You cannot just download it via a link and join the beta. You have to get the invite in this Members App. Not sure what device
@Midge123 has? Perhaps the beta had just opened up for the Fold but it's not been reported out there by anyone.
So, if the beta is still open for your device then check your CSC CODE and change it to BTU via one on the two methods availabl. Search my posts for more details or pop over and have a search on XDA. Always do a full backup before making any changes of course. Follow the instructions to the letter and remove all local security from your device,fingerprints, codes etc
I was pretty disappointed that we did not get the beta on the Fold/Flip here in the UK but you have always had the ability to side-load it via Odin or .zip (providing your CSC is BTU of course).
So, I was disappointed but it's not really an entitlement. Despite what you sll may think they have not done this just to annoy us, there will be a reason behind it whether it be a resource, timeline or other issue.
On that note, I was able to enrol in the Note 10 and the prior two flagship betas so we are not always left out.
I have no idea why they do not release all the betas in the UK seeming as UK English is the most widely used language on devices across the world (not most installs but widely used). But again, they have their reasons, it's not like Samsung is a small company being run out of someone's garage right hehe.
Rooting the Fold would not have given you the official beta. You would have to wait for people to release custom Roms, not to mention you would have lost Google and Samsung Pay, several security settings and key likely tripped Knox leaving you with an unofficial device and no warranty. It's not how it used to be ten years ago lol.
Find it a little strange to read comments like, I'm going to leave Samsung....
Apart from Google devices, Samsung is still up there with being pretty fast in releasing the next version.
Absolutely no way we can compare this to Apple and their updates. They have a handful of devices all with the exact same architecture and age all manufactured by Apple right.
Samsung have hundreds of devices across the whole planet and remember that on top of that every carrier then wants to add their little bits and custom apps to the builds.
It's totally up to individuals if they feel the need to leave Samsung based on the fact that they were not included in the beta this time round but just remember, you will most likely be far worse off with updates unless you go to a Google device.
Just one last thing, the other locations messaged to get through beta 1 to 4 pretty quickly and the timeline states we will get the full version in December, we could have ours within a few weeks right.
