Hi all , as the title says , how often do you upgrade your phone ??? Do you upgrade even if your phone works absolutely fine ?? Had my S10 for 2 1/2 years now and wondering if it's time for a change !

I upgrade every 2-3 years with my carrier contract depending on the phone I use and if there are any upgrade options that I like. Last time I got a new phoen I only had my last phone for 1 year 6 months (that was when I used the Samsung A9 2018) and upgraded early because there was a new phone that suited my needs better than the phone I had then.

My current phone contract ends in September 2022. However I know Im gonna probably keep my A51 5g til 2023 as it does exactly what I like from a phone and more, also trying to make use of Samsung A series receiving 3 major updates.

Oooh that will be good!! Cause Im with ee but O2 have phones on monthly prices that are what you get midrange phones for in ee. So itw ould be great if I could get an unlocked phone from O2 when its time to upgrade and use with my ee sim.

I remember talking to you about your A9 2018 months ago lol. What happened to it in the end?

In terms of what happened that made me decide to change phones, its that the processor wasnt working as well (well more the touchscreen, that was from it getting caught in the rain tho end of September lol, but the rain wanst even that heavy and I put the phone in rice and wiped it really well with a towel) and the fingerprint sensor was getting slow and camera quality wasnt the best.

In terms of what happened to it after the suggestions is that the software was up to date but the factory reset did nothing to solve the problems I had. For now Im just keeping it as a backup phone in case ny phone has to be factory reset for whatever reason so I have an extra device to store the data.

Always handy having a spare of back up phone. I liked the look of the A9 I remember when it came out.

With your A51... After owning it minimum 6 months... you can get it unlocked from EE but they will charge £8.99... After end of the contract you can unlock that one for free.

I have found having dual sim phones very useful... I hope they keep this system... I don't like using eSims.

Yeah I mean its not so much that I want my current phone unlocked because I dont ahve any problems with my phone being locked to ee. Its just a matter of getting better prices elsewhere on flagship phones so it'll be good when places like O2 start selling unlocked phones cause it means I could get a flagship phone from outside ee for a better price than ee but put my ee Simcard in it without paying a fee. But Im happy with my A51 5g being locked to ee its just more thinking about future upgrades 😊

Ah I get you... like them O2 refresh deals... yeah, will see how things go next year. I've seen some good deals made from them... think the only criticism is the credit check but if you manage your finances then it shouldn't be a worry at all.

I hate locked phones... it was even worse when the networks use to brand them physically and in the software... I remember having to get nail polish remover to get the Orange square network logo off the Nokia phones back in the day... to get a crisp and smooth finish on the surface ha...

The updates with carrier locked models doesnt really bother me too much butI guess it depends on the carrier. Ee are amazing with updates but I have heard a few people on the forum (users of S21) with problems surrounding updates for phones locked to 3. I know for sure I am never switching to 3 then lol
