Since updating last night, everytime I open WhatsApp the speaker start buzzing (it's not a vibration but a sound) and only stop when I force close the app. Even if I don't receive any notification or calls etc. Wiped the cached partition, reinstalled WhatsApp but still happening. It's quite loud as well (as in people around me can hear it) but WhatsApp seems to work fine.

Having the same issue after I installed One UI 5 this morning, it is very annoying. @Samsung please address the issue immediately.

I've switched off the system vibration (via the phone settings) and that has stopped this bug but yeah, this one needs a hotfix.

I've got a different problem on WhatsApp on S 22 ultra, the notification sound doesn't sound when I get a WhatsApp message, all other notifications are fine no, I've uninstalled, and re installed it, checked all settings, they are all as they should be, and it's not the battery saver stopping it anyone got any ideas? I've restarted the phone too, nothing works

I have exactly the same problem, and I've gone through exactly the same steps to try to resolve it. My WhatsApp notifications arrive silently while all other apps notify with sound and pop up. It's not do not disturb or battery saver or anything in system, notification, or app settings.

I'm experiencing exactly the same after the latest software update on my Galaxy S21 (not on the One UI 5 beta). Glad to read that it is not just me. All notifications from WhatsApp use the 'silent notifications'-channel.

Ah I haven't noticed on mine but will keep an eye for that specifically. Although for me maybe I've noticed because I use a Galaxy Watch and only receive notifications on the watch (I don't want double notification)
