Can't save new contacts

I have 36 contacts in my samsung galaxy s7 edge contact list. 

Now whenever I enter details for a new contact it looks like they are being saved. However, when I look in my contact list it turns out the new contact has not been saved.

How do I solve this?

Hi Fifi,

Where are you saving the contacts? On the phone itself, or on your SIM card, or on one of the associated accounts perhaps? What happens if you try to save them in a different location?

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your reply, it turns out I was saving my contacts to an emailaccount. Now I am saving them to my phone and that seems to be working fine.
