Smart Switch Backup deleted backup on microSD Card

Hello everyone!

I would need some help, because I am somehow shoked and don't understand how this could have happened:

I backup up my phone Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5  data with Smart Switch (on an microSD Card) and I left the data unencrypted. Then I put the card in my other Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 and backed up the data also, but with encryption.

Now the first backup from my first Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 was gone... Testdisk proved it was deleted. How can this be possible? Why did the second Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 just delete everything!?

Can someone help?

Sorry to hear of your issues.

When you moved the micro SD card from one device to the other and then saved the back up for the second device onto your micro SD card, I would suggest it has overwritten the first lot of data.

I suspect the file names may have been the same as they are both X Covers hence the overwritten issue?

Yeah I think that's exactly what has happened.
Unfortunately no way to recover the data.
I did a similar thing some years ago and annoyed with myself that I didn't make sure i separated the files
