Retrieving photos from Samsung S3 mini

Can someone help please.  Husband switched on Samsung S3 mini today and all photos have disappeared.  I have read all the blogs here and the gallery app on the S3 doesn't have the 3 dots choice - can anyone advise please as to how to reach the recycle bin to see if the photos are there?

I have taken off the back of the phone and checked the SDcard but photos are still disappeared.  Please help.

@SuzJ46: Sadly the Galaxy S3 Mini does not feature a Recycle Bin for the Gallery app. If you head to Apps > My Files > Images, are the photos still present in this location? You may also wish to sign in Google Photos via an internet browser, to see if the photos have been archived here: https://www.google.com/photos/about/

my old phone was a S3 mini but unfortunately there is no recycle bin for photos on the s3 mini
